The Hollywood Casino averaged nearly $250 per machine in October
The sole casino in Maryland drew in nearly 170,000 visitors in October and each slot machine generated $245. The first full month of its operation was a good start for the Hollywood Casino in Perryville, which made nearly $11.4 million.
The Cecil County casino brought in a higher take per slot machine than many other casinos in nearby states, its 1,500 slot machines being the sole attraction of the casino. Casino operators in surrounding states offer poker and blackjack in addition to slots.
The price per machine is a good indicator of how well a slot casino is doing, according to Grant Govertsen, an analyst at Las Vegas-based Union Gaming Group. "A $200 win per day is a sweet spot that casino operators shoot for," said Govertsen, whose company had projected daily revenue of $180 per machine at Hollywood Casino.
"To see them doing so well out of the gate is a great sign.”
General Manager of the Perryville facility Himbert Sinopoli said the October revenue is within expectations, and already the casino has seen a mix of repeat and new customers,
"Business is really consistent in how a normal casino operation would be at this point," Sinopoli said.
