Opponents of the Eisenhower Hotel casino proposal point to the proximity to Gettysburg National Military Park as their key argument.
Those investors behind the proposal for a small casino at the Eisenhower Hotel and Conference Center in Adams County are touting the lack of competition as a strong case for their approval by the state Gaming Control Board. They also point out that they have local support and the experience to make the casino resort a success.
Mason-Dixon principal David LeVan pointed out that if the state granted them the last casino license “It would allow Pennsylvania to enter its last untapped gaming marketplace.” He made the argument on the basis that their casino would capture gambling money from the southern part of the Pennsylvania and from northern Maryland.
There are three other sites competing for the license.
The Gaming Control Board has its concerns, however, pointing out that Mason-Dixon's projections show the bulk of the casino's business coming from stop-in guests.
The nature of the license, however, supports a casino that would pull custom in from people staying at the resort.
