Foxwoods Resort Casino will soon make their choice for CEO official.
This week the man named new CEO of the Foxwoods Resort Casino will be officially appointed, the announcement coming from the chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council. The appointment will be as CEO of the company that owns Foxwoods.
Scott Butera, president and chief executive of Las Vegas-based Tropicana Entertainment Inc, will soon be the head of Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises.
Chairman of the eastern Connecticut Indian council Rodney Butler said he will make the announcement of Butera’s appointment this week.
William Sherlock, who was named interim president in June when he replaced Michael Speller, will be stepping down to make way for Butera. Sherlock served as Foxwoods’ president and CEO from 2000 to 2006.
The move may serve to invigorate Foxwoods which has, along with neighbor Mohegan Sun, reported a decline in slot revenue this year.
