The US state of Florida is examining a proposed bill that would have the State regulating local-run online casinos and poker rooms.
While there are US Federal laws that have been passed that are anti-online gambling, for the most part the individual States make the laws on the legality of online casinos and similar rooms, and the southern State of Florida may soon be regulating a hub of such sites.
The bill proposed would allow online casino style games such as Texas hold’em poker to be operated online by a state regulated online casino. While online slot games are not included in the proposed bill they could be added into the bill after the fact.
Should the bill become law the state would regulate a hub that would distribute poker room licenses and safeguards would be put required to ensure that users are of a legal age to gamble. Security of fund transfers and the option to self-regulate how much gambling a player can do would also be of paramount importance.
Estimates are that one million Florida residents participate in offshore gambling each year; by passing this bill over 200 million dollars could be generated for the state of Florida in the first year alone.
