With one casino license left and three applicants the Missouri Gaming Commission has sequestered itself to make a decision.
Missouri’s final casino license has three competitors, meaning that the Gaming Commission had to meet in order to review which company would be the best fit. LeAnn McCarthy, spokeswoman for the MGC, said the panel met in closed session on Monday in order to review propriety financial information.
The results of the session are unknown, and as the commission’s next regular meeting is set for Dec. 1 it may be a while before the results are announced. In fact it remains unclear if the panel will make a decision by then or wait to approve any of the casino projects.
The three proposals are for Cape Girardeau, St. Louis or Sugar Creek, a suburb of Kansas City.
Missouri is limited to 13 casino licenses after a 2008 ballot measure was approved by voters. Up until this summer all 13 were in use but one became available because the closing of the President Casino in St. Louis.
