Casino Power Shifting in New Jersey

Crunch Casino Staff - 6 Nov 2010

The Casino Control Commission in Atlantic City may start sharing power with another agency.

In a bid to free up much needed funds to apply towards revitalizing Atlantic City a few changes in how the city governs its famous casinos may soon mean a shift in the power dynamic.

The agency that regulates casinos in the “Las Vegas of the East Coast” is the Casino Control Commission, which might lose much of its power if the draft legislation passes.

The Casino Control Commission would be limited to casino licensing with the rest of its current duties transferred to another agency, the Gaming Enforcement Division. The GED handles investigations and enforcement.

Another change in the legislation is that casino inspectors would no longer be required to be on the casino premises 24 hours a day.
