Casino Picks Reconsidered

Crunch Casino Staff - 4 Nov 2010

The Ohio Senate will weigh exiting Governor casino choices.

After the elections of the week the GOP-led Senate in Ohio will now decide before Governor Ted Strickland leaves office if his nominees to regulate the state's new casino industry are appropriate.

The approval will come after lawmakers such as State Sen. Tom Niehaus vote on Strickland's choices. The four Democrat and three Republican possibilities will be considered when the chamber holds hearings on the selections, just as it would on any nominees.

With a number of casinos on the way the choice of who will be in charge of their regulation is vital, and with the shift in political power in the state, now up in the air.

The state casinos approved last year by voters are planned for Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Toledo, but the regulators picked by Strickland are in question following the Democrat's defeat by Republican John Kasich.
