A woman’s slot machine jackpot award has been dropped from $42.9 million to $20.18

The Colorado Division of Gaming completed a recent investigation into a woman’s complaint that she is getting cheated out of millions and determined that the correct prize for a woman's $42.9 million slot machine jackpot win to $20.18.

In March Louise Chavez was playing at Fortune Valley Casino in Central City and won a penny slot machine jackpot. She got a slip of paper that announced winnings of $42.9 million, but this amount greatly exceeded the posted sum of $251, 000.

A spokesman for the Colorado Gaming Division said that Chavez's winnings are attributable only to a software glitch.

Fortune Valley Casino had already overpaid Chavez, awarding her $23.43 including $10 in unused credit still in the slot machine.
